ATTN: anyone with a type r rear sway bar
I'm going to be putting one in in a few days, but recently i've been hearing about problems with it tearing out the subframe. Is this going to be a problem? I was planning on using the BSQ mount kit, but now I'm reconsidering the whole thing... any input would be appreciated.
The BSQ kit is
Except for this goddamned mysterious creaking which nobody seems to know anything about. Other than that its very good!

Have type_R BSQ kit on for almost 2 years.
No subframe tear out problem here.

subframe tearout seems to happen to cars with stock suspension but an ITR rear swaybar, and drivers that really push the cars cornering limits.

The kit costs 20 bucks shipped off a website, I don't know it off hand but I'm sure someone else will.

The cause of subframe tearout is when the larger swaybar is mounted AWAY from the subframe. When the swaybar is mounted in this fashion, the swaybar is able to exert torque on the subframe and this stresses (ie. flexing back and forth) the mounting points and eventually causes the mounting points to pull away from the subframe.
The proper way to mount a large swaybar is to mount it DIRECTLY to the subframe (eg. Integra Type-R). This prevents the torque and stress on the subframe. My mounting/reinforcement plates also adds rigidity to the subframe. My kit also includes 2 washer which are used with flange nuts on the back side of the subframe for the lower mounting point.
I have been selling my Type-R rear swaybar mounting/reinforcement kits for over 2 years now and there hasn't been a single reported problem. Also there are countless others that have followed my installation instructions and have fabricated their own mounting/reinforcement plates an there have been no reported problems from those people either. I have also been running my Type-R rear swaybar for nearly 4 years now and I haven't experience any problems. And this is with nearly 21+ hours of track time (7 track events).
So needless to say, I'm extremely confident in my Type-R rear swaybar mounting/reinforcement kit (aka. BSQ mounting kit).
BTW, as long as you mount the swaybar properly (ie. with either kit - BSQ or Beaks), you will not experience any problems.
I hope this eases everyones concerns about subframe tearout.

Yup, I got mine from BSQ. (Thanks dude!

No problems, even under very spirited driving. Very easy install, and it ends up being one of the best suspension upgrades you can do. You also can't beat the price.

is that the skunk2 rear sway bar?

So with this BSQ mounting kit, is there another way to install the ITR swaybar? Or would you do it the same as without the BSQ kit?. Or is it the same way but just with the plates there to protect it from putting a hole through the sub frame?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I dont see why you would have any trouble with the ITR sway bar. The itr runs it just fine and well i dont thing theirs much diffrent on the subfame in that area between the 2 (strength wise, i know it's shaped alittle diffrent). The only area i see that would probably be weaker is the control arms but then again those end links will snap before it doesnt anything to the LCA's. With my suspension i had to switch to itr LCA's and i also run the ITR sway bar. One of the best mods i've done/experience with this car yet.

How does that creacking sound like? If it sounds like rubber and metal rubbing, the bar is moving from side to side. I had that sound when i was using the 22mm mugen bar on my hatchback. Just put some lithium grease between the bushing and bar. I've also heard of people wrapping telfon tape around the bar.

BSQ, I went to your website, and it states that the install will work for Integras from 1994 to 2000. Are 2001's any different?
