i have poped the door panel off and have the door lock pretty much off except the wire that hooks into that plastic piece that goes to the lock. i Need to take the whole thing out and get it to a lock smith so i can get my key replaced. Is it safe to cut this wire? how much will it cost me to replace or how hard will it be to rewire it?

Cutting a wire shouldn't be a problem...just leave enough room to butt connect it back together afterword.
