Default Turbocharged H22 Civic - some issues..

Can any friendly soul help me calculate the "right" compression ratio for my H22 when charging it..how low should i go? 8:8 or lower?

I know there have been 100´s of threads but im sorry icannot find right information about it..

How much boost is "safe" (I will dyno it so i can adjust while tuning it) can i go 8-10Psi on stock internals with a thicker steel gasket?, Will it help me raising the boost if adding say 20-30 Ethanol?

When does the H22 engine "feel" best at which AFR and exhaust temp?

Seeing forward to some good answers..not just "search" answ..

u have alot to learn. usdm h22s i believe are 10.1 to 1, and jdms are 10.6 to 1 compression. a thicker headgasket will not get u there. on standard internals about 250 WHP is all u want to go for it to be reliable. H22 ringlands are very weak. granted there are the exceptions to this rule but this a general rule of thumb. tuning, tuning, and more tuning is the key to being reliable. detonation kills engines. as far as afr goes conservatively go to the high 11s at WOT. and go with a good engine management system.

Change your compression with pistons, not a thick head gasket. I went with 9:1 CP pistons on my build...

Yes i know the piston has to be changed..but sometimes u want to save some money and go the easy way..which is often the "worse" way..

When the devil in u says to turn up the boost from 7psi to 12 and then..KABOOM

What do i have to do to the H22 bottom end to get relability to it?

Throw me some useful links of pistons and rods?

How much do i have to count in to spend on the bottom end in parts?

dh-racing.com...awsommee site for turbo or n/a h22 parts they do some awsome costom work..and nopi.com is a good one in my books.......if ur gona turbo u might as well just do the internals speacialy with an h22 kinda high stock compression and v-tec are just known to not do too well with turbo...........but def go for it, just dont over do it on the psi and u should be fine...............im about to do an h22 turbo too.

For a resleeved motor like the one BigBlock has, as well as pistons, rods, and assembly you're looking to pay anywhere between $2800-$3500. That's not couting how much it will cost to take the motor out of the car and remove the block and reinstalling it later when the block buildup is done. Trying contacting username earl on H-T and see if he can help you out with some price quotes. I believe he will be able to ship blocks to Europe too, it'll just cost you extra.

Don't forget, you can't (or let's just say shouldn't) swap in aftermarket pistons in a stock sleeved H22, if you want it to last more than a few thousand miles. The stock sleeves are a composite material that will have to be removed and the block resleeved (AEBS, Benson, ERL all seem popular, there's more)... so you may as well figure in another $1000 for the bare block to be resleeved....assuming you do all the disassembly/assembly of the bottom end.

Well, also a couple alternatives to what I mentioned here, just so nobody calls me a liar.

So you guys says it isnt enough to change the Pistons n rods? to run 15psi of boost? , will i get that oval shaped sleeves?

Thats why im thinking...run a safe 7psi on bone stock bottom and get..250-280whp? or spend 4-6000$ and kick *** with 20psi of boost...

Is the heat gonna make the sleeves crack easily?

what do u say about this block guard?..its a cheap way to do it or not?

but i was reading a lot on it and it seems that "thekingpin" has a good answer.
