choosing tires for stock 14" steelies
I was looking for a streetable tire that will hold up for summer racing like the azenis, but since they are back ordered for another 6 weeks, I've decided to get something a littler more mild. I've narrowed it down to: yoko avid h4, pirelli p7000, pirelli p6000, and the pirelli p4000. If anybody has any experiences with any of the above it will be appreciated. BTW, if anyone has a better suggestion for a 195/60/14, let me know.

if you are a member to sams club or costco check out BFG's. But if your the kinda person that wont run american tires on your car dont bother. I have 14" allows on my teggie and use 195 60 14 BFG's. Love them. dont squawl at all when pushed hard and hold up well. I dont track race or auto X them but im pretty ruff on them and the seem to hold up well. And....best part, only $52 installed per.
The way i see it is like this. If you arn't going to change your driving habbits your tires are going to wear the same reguardless of brand with the exception of racing tires but im not refering to them. For the price its at least work considering. Again, unless you wont put american meats on your baby.

I'm looking for an hr summer tire. I looked at bfg's on tire rack.com and didn't see anything jumping at me. There isnt a huge selection of performance tires in 195/60/14 though. . .
no, not for that size at all really. But then again, the 60 profile really isnt performance oriented. What do you plan on doing with these tires????
After going through specs and reviews on every 195/60 tire on tires.com and tirerack.com, I decided on the avid h4's. They're $53 so if they're not great I wont be crying about it. I plan on using the tires to keep my car stuck to the road as buying new wheels is way down on my list of "to do." Hopefully the car will see some autocross action in the summer, so the h4's look decent enough to hold up to some racing.
