belt squeaking???

Default belt squeaking???

every once in a while (not every time) when i hit the gas i hear a squeaking noise from the engine...im guessing its a belt.....can some one help???

Tighten the belts, see if they're worn.

If you have more then 1 belt, I.E alternator, a/c , ps . Get someone to step on the gas and see if you can get the belt to make the noise, if you can spray some water on each belt, 1 at a time. If the noise goes away, that belt either needs to be replaced, tighten, or loosened.

alright...well i only have one belt but how do u tighten it??? and how come it only does it everyonce in a while....like probably only happens once or twice a week???

because of the pull on the belt is differnt, you must check if its loose itll be slipping causing it to squeak the blets are metal as well so when they slip thats why its a high pitched sound adjust accordingly

well last night while i was sitting at a stop light all of the sudden my idle started to bounce like it almost died a few times...does this have anything to do with the belt?

also how do u tighten the belt?....i think it is tight enough tho b/c it doesnt feel that lose....maybe a lil bit of slack....

somebody please help!

Sounds like the alternator belt is loose, or your alternator is on the way out.

Well I would test the alternator first, by hooking a volt meter to it. But it seems like you might not have one, so try tightening the alternator belt and see if the problem goes away.

alright well im pretty positive its the alternator b/c when im idleing the stereo gos in and out sometimes and when i turn on my headlights everything dims. also when i am idleing and i tap the breaks the rpms go up and down quiet a bit.

oh im a noob so dont flame but how do u adjust the belt....i kno there is a tensioner bolt or something but i donno where its at/

idunno bout baby powder but loosen the bolt, stick a crowbar down there n put some pressure on it, then tighten thebolt. my car used to whistle when it hit a certain rpm. sure its not a whistle instead of a squeel.

has to be the belt. maybe ur iming belt is rubbing on the cover? that happedn to me too. just check each belt and tighten them.
