Default Fitted J's Racing 4-2-1...

I fitted my J's Racing 4-2-1 to my JDM ITR at the weekend, and im impressed with the build quality... But ive got a few questions..

The exhaust note seems to have lost its 'edge' its still sickeningly loud at WOT but its just lost a bit of the 'bite' (noise wise) it had previously.. (Its got a JIC JDM Decat, and Kakimoto Hyper2000+ N1). It also sounds a bit more 'hissy' when pull away from low revs.. Does anyone have any experience of this sort of thing and is there any explanation?!

Ta!

Heres the pics!

The exhaust note will change with the changing of the exhaust manifold.

That said:

I would check to make sure this is not an exhaust leak, just to make sure.

i doubt you have an exhaust leak. when switching from a cast manifold (which insulates sound very well) to a tubular manifold (which can amplify sound) you often notice a hissing sound afterwards that sounds similar to an exhaust leak, but is just the air passing through the new manifold. nothing to be concerned with, and you'll stop noticing it fairly quickly.

this is really common on JDM headers especially because they use thinner tubing than most USDM manufacturers.

Wow, that header is such eye candy.

I've always noticed a different exhaust tone when comparing stock to aftermarket headers.

i have the same header,
i noticed a change in tone after a couple of weeks, i put it down to breaking in but given the choice i'd like it to sound as it did at first
never noticed any hissing though

Nice header, I am considering one myself..... Do you have the specs like how it is shown below in the picture?

It goes where Will it be harming anything?!

So i should notice a change in tone which i have, it seems deeper and less edgy, should it affect the volume levels?

Thanks guys

mines fitted about 12 months, its definatley more subdued now, at first when you hit the happy pedal you almost got a mental picture of the gases doing their thing, there was a lovely whine off it, maybe take it off occasionally a de-coke it, yours looks spotless compared to mine

The ground doesn't really do anything where it is. You are basically just grounding the valve cover. You need to put it on the valve cover stub so it can ground the motor.

Ouch! I've been owned! You guys are correct, i didn't even notice the fact that it was a JDM R. I do think that the smartassness of changing my name in the quote was rather uncalled for. Everyone jumps the gun on here thinking you are flaming someone. I glanced at the pic, saw no vin, assumed it was a swapped USDM car with a jdm front. I jumped the gun on that admittedly and was promptly corrected. Just defending myself so i'm not grouped in with most of the other morons on this board.

Anyways, on topic:

Header looks clean as hell! Are you gonna dyno it to see any gains? And what header were you running before? I'm just wondering if the gains outweigh the price.

Do you have a place where you can test how much power the car is making?

You know, get some pretty lines made like this:

OT: I think you should get a larger filter as it appears to be smaller than the factory sized one. It could be choking your car now.....

*pppppfffffftttttt* the long throttle cable that's wrapped around the motor usually is a dead giveaway when looking at the engine bay of a JDM ITR.

Two fans are visible in the picture, as is the A/C condenser.
