ok, i have had my car for like 3 months now. it is a 93 ls with 155,000 miles. resently, within like the last month, when i go over 5k rpm's the tach starts jumping... and it kinda felt like the car was topping out but it may have been my imagination. but now it seems to be getting worse. like it is actualy toping out at 5k. like i was in 3rd gear and i punched it and it was accelerating and once it hit like 4,500 the car started surging and the tach went crazy and it felt like the car died out, it was like a big surge. but its weard because when im in first i can go to 5-6k and it dosnt do it, the more gears i go through the worse it gets.. when i bought the car the plugs were replaced, as well as the wires and drstributer cap.

the only thing i can think of is that about a month after i go my car a power washed my engine and forgot to cover the distributer , could there be moisture in there doing this?

the tach jumps? could be the igniter.. or a bad ground..

 

well the tach dosnt just jump the whole car dose over 5k rpm..... feels like it is topping out.

so basicily u jus followed the instructions on g2ic and it worked ?? .. dam i ve been havin this prob for like 6 months and nobody could help me .. thanks alot

 

ya, and also a wire, one of the 4, looked like it had a cut in it so i coverd it in electrical tape... but it wwas an easy procces. it defenetly felt good to be able to come close to redline without see ing my tach going crazy. good luck on fixing yours

 

so basicily the igniter connection is loose ?? .. how do i tell if the igniter itself is bad ?

 

ya, i dont know how to tell if it is bad, i guess if the tighting on the wires dosn't work it is bad. when i bought my car the privious owner replaced the ignitor, and i guess he didnt put the conectors on tight enough.
