Default clutch stuck in third, flows without resistance through 3rd/4th, cant get it out

pretty much like the tittle states, the car is stuck in third gear but the shifter can move freely between 3rd and 4th, clutch pedal down or not, would could be causing that problem? before this my clutch gave no indication that it was going out, what do you guys think?

well if it is a broken linkage or fork, would that be something to take a transmission place for a rebuild, or should i take out the tranny and inspect it myself?

the linkage would be external... hence the linkage from the shifter to the tranny... or it could be the interal linkage components. If you feel like you can handle the task do it yourself. Theres a write up on here somewhere by bauley that will pretty much cover everything you'll need. (its for input bearing inspecting but it'll show you how to inspect and pull it apart.)
