HELP!!!!!! car in gear, clutch is out, car still rolls. wtf.
we put a motor and tranny in a 1993 coupe, its the d15b7, when we were rolling the car to push start it, there was no pop and it just kept rolling like it was in nuetral, then we put it in 2nd and left clutch out and it rolled back like it was in nuetral....anyone have a idea why???

Did you take the trans off the engine at all? And was the engine/trans running fine before you put it in your car, or do you know have a history on it?
Is all the linkage (Shifter fork shift linkage) and fluid (Clutch Fluid, Slave and Master cyl)connected and bled?

i got the motor and tranny from a guy selling it who claims it was running perfect. we bled the clutch till it seemed to work fine and put the linkage in correctly cause it goes into every gear fine

If you look at the slave cyl when you have someone pump the clutch is it pushing the clutch fork?

he just said it's going into all the gears, so the shifter linkage has to be connected and working.

Sure it will still in essence go into all the gears even if the linkages aren't connected. It will still feel like your in the gates

^ah good thinking! If any one of the axles aren't in all the way, even a half inch out, it will seem like the trans is blown

How will it go into, any gear, at all if the linkages arn't connected? It's not possible? If it's broken internally then ok (maybe thats what your talking about?) but I was talking about the shifter linkage from the **** to the input of the trans.

Because if the linkage is disrupted somewhere along the line, the physical shifter will still go into the gates, and will FEEL like your shifting it, but the shifter isn't actually connected to anything and isn't truly moving anything inside the transmission

yeah when the clutch is pumped the slave cylinder and fork move from right to left, and the pin on linmkage is in with the nut and botl for the other arm of the linkage is on to? you guys think its like that part right outside the transmission or inside?

just move the stick around, and have somebody look under the hood to see if the linkages on the transmission are going through the entire shifting range

There will be a linkage on top of your transmission (cant remember exactly where with your style since I'm used to looking at my 7th gen now), but when the stick is moved around there will be mechanical linkages that move all around. You'll know it when you see it. But you need two people to do it.

Even if there is no oil in the trans it wouldn't matter. On my 7th gen, the guy before me cracked the casing and all the oil drained out. Nobody knew, but there were thousands of miles put on that trans w/out oil. Not that I recommend that.
