i have had my b16a1 installed in my 88crx si for about a month now and i have no vtec. also you can only rev till 7500rpm before it cuts out. some one told me it was the vtec solenoid is this what is causing all of my problems. also my check engine light comes on after i rev it to like 5000rpm and stays on.any advice on this would help thanks.

 

The check engine light code will tell you the problem. It does sound like a problem with the vtec system, as it's trying to activate around 5000 rpm. Check all your wiring, get a manual, and start some troubleshooting, you'll find it.
