Default Looking for ECU. What the difference from OBD1 and OBD2?

I have a stock 97 GS-R m/t and i belive i need a new ecu. My vtec dosen't work (as stated in my other posts). I would like to know what the difference is between a OBD1 and OBD2 ecu. It would also be nice if someone could tell me exactly what kind of ecu i need (ex: p72 gsr obd1 ecu). Thanks for the help

check you oil pressure or even the vtec line(green)...

as for the obd1/obd2 thing... obd1 is just much easier to touch with. you will need a p72(gsr) ecu and the obd2a to obd1 conversion harness.

hope that was helpful.

as gsrious said.....

People usually go with an obd1 ecu because its more tuning friendly. There's many programs out there; hondata, uberdata, crome, etc for tuning. If in fact you wanted to run an obd1 ecu, you'll need to buy an obd2A-1 conversion harness. Obd2A came in 96-99 Integras/96-98 civics. Be sure your clear about that when ordering. Next, look for a p72 ecu.
