I have a 00 civic si. i blew the old motor so i got one out of a 99 si. well the guy said it was ready to be swapped and when i go to change the harness over and distributor is diff and alternator so i call and come to find out the guy converted it for a 95 civic. so i let my friend switch it all back because i dont know how to and it runs but no vtec??? im stumped any suggestions

 

my friend kinda had a similar problem, eventually we came to the conclusion that he had a bad vtec selonoid surly we replaced it with a newer one, and it worked fine, just a suggestion to look into. also, oil pressure possibly.

 

is there a way to check the selonoid

 

not to sure actually, we got one from another car, that we no worked, and pluged it up.

 

Just find a friend that may have one that works and throw it on and see if it may be that yours is bad...Might also check to make sure you are getting voltage/current to the solenoid.
Also oil isn;t low or anything correct? good luck..
