Default confused about some jdm stuff for ep3

I have an 02 civic si and i am going to do a conversion to a ctr. When looking for the shift ****, the jdm ctr shift **** i came across was a 6 speed. Is the ep3 a six speed in japan??? Another thing is, when i bought the car, i thought it was the jdm steering wheel that was already installed. It has the red stitching, and the red badge, BUT, it also has cruise control settings on it, which im pretty sure arent on the jdm ctr's. Any ideas?

thanks

Yes,the jdm ep3 Civic Type-R is 6 speed.

Did you buy the car used? If so, someone possibly just put a red sticker overlay on the emblem. I am pretty sure the true jdm ep3 Civic Type-R has a Momo emblem at the 6 o'clock position on the steering wheel.

If you see Momo written on your steering wheel, then it's probably a CTR version, but if not, it's a vinyl sticker that they sell on Ephatch.

your friend is dumb...you are very confused about this aren't you?

also just to let you know that if you are planning on converting your exterior to the ctr, you are gonna have to get the jdm bumpers to fit the ctr lip kit on and the jdm rebar...which is going to cost you more than $2,000. Unless you just get the replica kits that fit the usdm bumpers

Not necessarily true. For JDM models that is correct.

For the UKDM non-30AE models it's just single stitched with a red H, no Momo stamp (looks just like an Si wheel with the red H decal, minus cruise control). The UKDM 30AE model comes with the double stitched momo steering wheel.

So really the only way to tell a real CTR wheel apart from an Si is the cruise control. But I suppose if you really wanted to you could add cruise control to the CTR wheel....

Most likely though, it's just a stock Si wheel with red H decal.

ctr is six speed cause it has a k20a2. red stitching does come on all usdm ep's and the red H is a sticker. Ctr conversion is gonna cost you a shitload.

Yup --

Although, to be fair, there have been USDM EP's without red stitching on the steering wheel. There weren't many, though, and I'm guessing that they came from a batch where the red was out of supply or something like that.

okay dude lets clarify a lot of things right here right now!

okay well if you want to do ctr conversion you have to know somethings?
the front bumpers are different from the 02-03 then the 03-04 yr models, here is a pic of the difference, headlights are different too:

(thank you for letting me take this image) hehe.
okay also you know that the ctr have side skirts, pics are easy to find, and a shorter rear bumper with a lower lip

know as for the engine, yes it is 6 speed because its a totall different engine, you will soon relize that your k20a3 isnt the engine you though you might have been getting. our civic si engine are not equiped with what you can say "real vtec" because vtec is only hitting on the intake side, while are true vtec system runs from the intake and exhaust side of the cams. that is why we have a realy weak redline of 6800 rpm.

the civic type r as well as the integra type r have the engine k20a which is a 220 hp engine that redlines at 8,300 rpm has lsd and real vtec. (ctr model had like 10hp less because of a different exhaust set up and thats all, same engine still)

with the steering wheel, if yours has a red "h" just like everyone says, then its a sticker unless you have the momo badge on the bottom of the steering wheel. (stickers can be purchased on ephatch.com) and from 02-05 all the steering wheels have red stiching, (all jdm, ukdm, usdm steering wheels were made by momo, but only the jdm, ukdm models received the leather wraped ones with momo insignia.)

okay well there is some info dude. now do more reasearch.
