Default some wierd stuff after new fuel filter intall.

ok i just installed a brand new fuel filter on my car. to make a long story short, my fuel was leaning out 21 psi. set-up is walbro 255 h.p., aem fuel rail, precision 880cc injectors, aem fpr, and aem ems. and i know this set-up is good for at least 500whp. so anyhow i changed my fuel filter in attemp to fix my fuel problem and after installed i noticed my fuel pressure drop from 56 psi to 49 psi. then i got curious and cut open the old fuel filter so see how bad it was. and on the old fuel filter dirt was lined through out the whole filter. it was'nt like caked up real bad, but there was a pretty healthy amount of dirt on it. would this some how make my fuel pressure drop at all? thanks a lot guys.

once you changed it out it stayed the same? the paragraph is a little confusing, you said it dropped after you changed the filter... but that was the original problem?

the dirt thats in the old fuel filter was originally in the tank and went through the pump, so that may be a pressure loss because of a pump thats wearing out.

well what i meant was, i set the fuel pressure to 56 psi. i changed the fuel filter and it droped down to 49 psi. i did'nt tinker with the fpr at all after i changed the filter. what happened was, for some reason the new fuel filter made the fuel pressure drop for some reason.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by dc2ls-t &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">well what i meant was, i set the fuel pressure to 56 psi. i changed the fuel filter and it droped down to 49 psi. i did'nt tinker with the fpr at all after i changed the filter. what happened was, for some reason the new fuel filter made the fuel pressure drop for some reason.</TD></TR></TABLE>

maybe there's more flow through your fuel system after changing the dirty fuel filter. more flow=less pressure. less flow=more pressure...

i would say since it flows smoother, theres less pressure... just adjust it back up

if anything the dirty filter would cause more pressure from the pump to the filter since its a restriction and less pressure at the rail.....
