Default Any one with the h22a experience this?

Need some advice, guidence and anything else to figure out this problem.

The setup:
Acura CL 2.2 with a 93 H22a
Motor ran fine, no CEL lights
I have a intake, walboro 255, and B&M fuel pressure regulator and guage (which I believe might be defective), Field VTEC unit (only Digital RPM and Speed sensor removal hooked up), Stock P13 ecu running off a Jumper harness. All wires were extended and the VTEC, VTEC Solinoid, EGR, can't remember the other one are hard wired to the ECU

Scenario #1
Car has been running fine but over the past couple of months I have been noticing that when I am taking off from a light or from a stop, if I gradually give it gas and take off normally, sometimes the car will putter and feel like its not going anywhere. If I stop on the gas harder sometimes the problem will correct itself, and other times it may carry through 2 and 3rd gear and then correct itself. It sounds almost liek a loud farting noise.

Scenario #2
For the past couple of days, when VTEC kicks in the car back fires and sounds like gun shots, loud "Pop" "Pop", sometimes this will correct itself and vtec will straighten itself out, and other times I have to let off the gas and keep it out of VTEC. It's kinda of annoying because the power of VTEC is not there when you need it.

Advice from people thus far:
Spark Plugs (changed)
Wires (not changed)
Cap and rotor (not changed)
Fuel Filter (changed like 1.5 yrs ago)
Fuel Pressure Reg (Might need a new one) This FPR is made by B&M and uses the existing fuel rail and is universal, so I am not sure if it working right or not)
EGR (cleaned but not changed)

Has anyone with an H22 experienced this problem and if so what things did you do to solve it?

Thanks Paul

That's where I would start.

I would say you are running rich or lean but i could be wrong. How did you tune the car.
Ie you have a high rate fuel pump, aftermarket regulator. is the fields vtec or fuel portion hooked up. and DO you have a tune. with out stock stuff I dont know how to make sure its stock settings.

also I would do wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, and maybe plugs again.
like lewdin said.

I got a question do your butterflies work in the intake manifold?

maybe even o2 sensor.
I have a slight hesitation sometimes part throttle. I think mine is o2 sensor.

yea as stated above i'd replace all that cheap stuff above. i'd also throw a timing light on your car...

i went thru some probs with mine, changed a bunch of stuff - and the solution ended up being timing.. you can read my initial post here:

Sspeaking of timing, do you know when the timing belt was changed, if at all? The backfiring think makes me think timing belt. Your autotensioner could be going. I'd at least take off the valve cover and check the cam timing & belt tension/condition.
