RSX or EP3?
Hi,
I'm going to be purchasing a new car soon and have the choice between an RSX or a EP3. I would eventually like to get whatever car I choose to run high 13's. This is also going to be my daily driver. Which would you recommend? Which would be easier to turbo?
Thanks.

I think so too
This is between a base RSX and an Si? In that case same engine (few differences I think, IM for one?) just go with whatever one you think looks/drives/feels better. If its between RSX-S and Si then the RSX-S for sure.

rsx base or type-s?
with the type-s u can get into high 13's with race header, intake, 2.5 inch piping, hondata with a full tune, and a hondata intake manifold gasket.
this will set you at about 210-215 whp.

Base RSX. Anyways, thanks for the replies guys. I thought they had the same motor but I wasn't sure. Also, are their any features that would set them apart? LSD? Also, which one is lighter? Also, I heard that they aren't the greatest motors for FI because of the compression ratios. How easy are they to turbo?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Same motor; the Civic Si has the LSD but the RSX has the nicer interior (I really, really, can't stand the 2-layer dash.) FI, well, I heard they recently produced a good turbo system but otherwise I wouldn't really recommend it because of the way the engine is laid out (kinda backwards - you don't want the intake being near the firewall the way it is now) but you can always supercharge it.

I believe he is considering the 02-05 Civic Si which does not have LSD or the 2 layer dash. He also said base RSX which has the same motor (K20A3) as the EP3 Si.

And I agree, I like the RSX > Si but even still I think the OP should drive both and decide for himself

For some reason I really like the look of the EP3. I've always really liked hatches. Anyways, how's the weight comparison? Is it gonna make a really big difference?
Thanks.

You know all of this info you can have just by doing a simple search. Thats how Im finding this info.
05 Civic Si - 2,782 lbs
05 RSX (Base) - 2,734 lbs
So no not that much of a difference. This might help as well for any more comparasons....

Um...first of all, I wouldn't be getting the Type S. Second of all, I'm not going to not get a car because it's "gay".
For the people that actually helped, would you just recommend that I just pick whichever one I think looks better?

Yes
That's what it's going to come down to, because the specs are almost identical. Personally I prefer the EP3...but that's just me.

Not a fan of the dash-mounted shifter myself
Technically, the RSX is a hatch. Technically. That's what it says on my registration, anyway. Phil calls my car a "teardrop on crack," and I call the EP3 an "egg on wheels." So it goes.

i have an 02 ep3 and i was in your same situation about 8 months ago. I test drove both cars and ep3 was a lot more solid in shifting and is a lot more fun to drive. Plus bolt-ons release a lot of the power in the car. I would suggest the ep3, just thought i would add my 2 cents.
For the price of an RSX, you can have an EP3 with a true hatch & kickass dash shifter (I really don't want a low floor shifter in any future car of mine) plus a few thousand bucks in engine & suspension mods.
Guess which one will be faster, more practical, more unique, and possibly more fun to drive.

Ep's are more unique and with the dash shifter your hand is much closer to the wheel and you can move back and forth easily. Plus you can see like 15 rsx's for every one ep in a day. But just choose what you think feels more comfortable and that you like more.
Last year when I was deciding between the RSX base and EP3, I choosed the EP3. The EP3 felt tighter and nimbler on turns (especially when you switch the stock sway bar with the CTR 22mm sway bar). I also liked the interior more than the RSX. Just get some nice coil overs, tires, CTR sway, Hondata, RH/EX/IN and have fun.
Besides the IM, the EP3 also has better gearing than the RSX, 2nd gear just pulls hard.
