Timing belt/ valve bending question
ok i recently bought a crx that had a broken timing belt. the previous owner put on a new belt and it still did not start so he sold it to me. i brought it to my house and did a compression test. 90 on the center two cylinders and 150 on the outside ones. car would not start up. cam timing was correct. i thought the valves were bent so i pulled the head. the valves look fine and the pistons do not have any marks on them either. can anyone tell me what happened?
valves probably bent - you just can't see them - turn head with combustion chambers up and pour water into combustion chambers - leaking ones will let water out intake or exhaust ports - most likely intake
thank you sir. the intake valves on the number 2 cylinder are leaking. they hit first because they are bigger correct?
no, actually they hit because the closest the pistons get to the valves is on overlap when the exhausts are just closing and the intakes are just opening, so the piston is kind of chasing the exhaust valve while the intake is coming out to meet the piston
