Hey guys, i'm doing the inevitable for me and i'm cutting some corners on my turbo kit... running outta money
I was wondering how much better mandrel bent charge piping is over crush bent charge piping. Only have half of my charge piping will be crushed bent cuz i'm using an AEM CAI for the other part of my charge piping... hehe.
A little bit of history and goals on my set up:
bone stock H22A1 in EJ6 with front crossmember mount, a/c , Precision GT32E turbo, CRPTurbo Log manifold and 2.5'' (or 3.0'') DP, and i'm only gonna be running it at 9-10 psi with about 11.x:1 a/f ratio... conservative tune. I plan to only make like high 200s maybe low 300s.
So yeah, I was wondering, for my application, if mandrel bent will make that much of a difference.
Also... the GT32E exhaust outlet is 2.5'' and I'm running dumped DP, so i was wondering if using a 3.0'' DP is THAT much better FOR MY APPLICATION. Once again... $$ issues and also clearance issues since i'm running a/c
Alright guys, thanks for the help on making me go cheap on my turbo set up... hehe

2.5 will work.
3.0" will be better.
Since you got a larger motor, and will provide quicker spool.
Mandrel smoother flow compare to Crush bent where is restricts smooth flow by alittle.
BiiiiiiiiiiitCh..

just buy mandrel bends and make your own pipes....JC Whitney is cheap...i built a set for under 80 bucks!!!
Definetely spend the money on mandrel 3" for your DP, thats where you would see the difference in not only a nice little bit of power but a difference in spool time and such
The charge pipes really dont make a huge huge difference and you will save a good chunk of cash doing it
I personally just started piecing my kit so I went over to a huge exhaust shop in town, 3am, parked beside there dumpster, hopped in, hopped out. I got my 3" mandrel and flexpipe and ******* everything
SCORE

LOL! Good ****. HAHah!
I always consider the saying "do it right the first time" because upgrading etc, will cost you even more in the long run.
