Default Stolen car in alabama

hey i'm new on here but not new to honda civics...just bought my 3rd 92 civic hb, and i have 05 honda S2000. but my buddy back in june moved to Auburn for college, and owned the civic with a fully built LS/vtec about 12k in the engine. it was a nasty engine. well he had the car about 2 yrs no problems, this summer he ran it in the autotrader and only one person called about the car. that night the car was stolen from his home...12 days later it was found in bessemer. well i have personally have seen his engine in 2 different civics around the bham area and a local shop worked on the engine after spinning a rod bearing. well i bought the civic this sunday... i looked at the car, and it was in good condition. heres what is werid. they took the time to put a d16z6 engine back in the car, wire it all up correctly and all neat, took the hondata and engine, suspension, but put suspension back on the car, took the axle back, left the walbro fuel pump, broke the collumn to start it, took the drive window out, it was unbolted not broke out, left carbon fiber mirrors, took the wheels... but it was like they stole it, swapped the engine and was driving the car for 12 days...and left the tag on the car. oh and left the disk brake conversion on it also. well the reason the police found the car is b/c their wires goin to the external coil melted. i put a new coil on it tonight and got the car running...to my surprise the single cam engine is really strong. oh and left a short throw shifter in the car. but anyways its a shame that people have to steal what other people work for. i know that my best friend worked for 6 yrs to pay for that car...and to have it ripped off. well to the people who was invovled you will be caught and punished to the full extent of the law. but now i get to fix the car that they destroyed....

Damn...glad I live near Huntsvegas! That's pretty crappy, I thought a majority of the residents of Alabama were too dumb and mustang addicted to go after Hondas

the car showed up in bessemer back in june, but its been sittin in a basement since then... but i got the car running...its a strong single cam...its a d16z6. unsure of where this engine came from...it could be stolen also, but the cops never checked the engine numbers on the block when they had the car in impound.

Where exactly did the engine show up? I've heard quite a bit about this situation. Rumors have been flying like crazy.
