Default Problem with d15b7 timing

ok i just recently finished my b1 to b7 swap in my 91 hatch..using all of the b1 stuff...dpi, ecu and dizzy...so heres the problem, i jump the plug under the glovebox like it says...so the ecu doesnt have control over the timing...but it dosnt change anything on the timing..whats up with that?...also i have the dizzy set back as far as it will go and it still needs to go about 3-4 more degrees and ive ran out of slot to move...so can i bore out the slots a little to give me that more room i need???or that be pushin it??thanks
