rusted wheels
ok when i bought my 95lx it had been sitting in a back yard for a while. the wheels look rusted but cant really tell because of the hub caps. but now my hub caps r cracked and they make an anoying "clicking" noise when the wheels turn.
So my plan is to take off the hub caps and spray paint the wheels. but i had a few questions before i do so
1. Is there a solution i can buy to remove most of the rust.
2. What kind of spray paint should i get, im thinking something more expensive
3. how do i go about removing the tires/putting them back on.
thanks in advance

Well, you have a common enemy.... Rust. I don't know of a solution that you can just spray on that will remove the rust. The most effective way to remove the rust is to have the wheels sandblasted. This will ensure all of the rust is removed, and give you a nice surface to paint. As for spray paint... I'm not really certain, I guess just go with a good name brand designed for higher temperatures, and designed to help stop rust. Rustoleum? As for removing the tires from the wheels... you will need to have this done for you. A tire machine is needed to remove them. This brings up an interesting dilemma... factor in the cost of sandblasting, painting, and removing and re-installing the tires... if you shop around you can probably find new steel wheels for somewhere around 50 bucks a piece... so the choice is yours.
hey honda tech pro. what do u think if i just clean teh wheel as much as i can then tape up the tire so i dont get any paint on it. I plan 2 just clean the wheel tape the tire and spray paint the rim black hoping I wont get any on the tires
Naval Jelly (Old timers know what I'm talking about). It's a jellied acid which neutralizes Rust. Paint on, let sit and rinse off. You'd then want to at least sand / grind them as smooth as possible. Then paint a first coat of a "Rust Stop" paint (any brand will do). Once dry, you can apply a color coat to finish it.
