Default Good deal on a new 2005?

Hi, I'm new here and have never driven a Civic until today.

I've been looking online for 2002-2003 Civics for around $12K, just getting an idea for what's out there. I took an 02 for a test drive today and though it lacked the power I'm used to, I was overall satisfied with the car. But it was dirty and had obviously been ragged on, so I'm not interested in that particular car.

The dealer had one new 2005 left. It's an EX Special Edition with alloy wheels, spoiler and moonroof, which really set it apart from the generic DX and LX cars. They said they would probably let it go for $16,500 and I'm wondering of that's a good enough deal due to the new models coming in. Also, would I have to worry about it depreciating more due to it being an older generation?

Welcome to H-T.

It depends what you're looking for.

The '06 Civic Coupe LX is 16,310 MSRP.

Availability is spotty, but it's a nice car too. If you can, test drive an '06 Civic and then make your decision.

I believe that's for the manual though. I think I'd rather have the "luxury" 05 than the "mundane" 06
