I was thinking of making a little homemade mod but not sure if it's worth it. I put my stock airbox in because i don't like having a short ram intake. So anyway, with my resonator removed, would it be a good idea to run some 2.5-3 inch pipe from the air box down to the whole under the left headlight where the foglights go??? Is there already an aftermarket pipe like that made and is it worth it.

BTW, those fog light holes are already cut.

yes but your force feeding the engine air it dosent need/wont use

all i got to say is,, when people fabricate ideas for ram air dont **** on them,, they just like working on their car and using their ideas. it cant hurt to have cooler air in the intake. why is everyone so worried about dragging in 100 degree weather if cooler air wont do any thing.......

thats not true. my friend has a ram air setup in his tacoma... flexy piping sticking from under his bumper. without it he cant beat me, with it... he slowly pulls from my car. i can notice the power difference in switching air filters so why wouldnt cold/ram air not be helpful?

The drop is 3.8 inches up front and 3.5 at the back on coil over sleeves. Ride is stiff as hell, but it suits my likings.

 

don't make the ram air air tight just leave the hose pointing to the air box so air goes towards it. it will help because cold air is going into the box

and ram air is not ram air untill over 300mph ???? yeah right your on something here try this to prove you wrong buy a iceman headlight ram intake take it down the track and then put on a CAI or regular intake and feels the difference or see the difference on the timeslip

yeah i believe so... thats nothing but a show integra... all show no go! That hole looks tight! I'm gonna take my headlight out so I can look cool too.

 

If I remember right if you have ram air. At like 60 miles per hour it is equal to 1/2 a pound of boost. Just like on superchargered engines only not need as powerful. It can't hurt anyway because cooling the temperature in the engine bay is very helpful to the motor. Cooler air means more power. If this isn't true why are people always putting bags of ice on there intake manifolds before drag racing?

My question stems from this one asked about the ram air. I was thinking of sealing the area where the filter is and then running air ducts hidden inside my bumper into that area to sort of force more air into that area. is this feasable or a waste of time?? I have a 1993 Honda Civic sedan LX with 182,000 miles on it. I drive 55 miles to work everyday in this little car. and can only say how reliable it is. I've done all maintenance work, replace belts, timing belt and water pump. So far I've replaced a blown head gasket and then did the bolt ons. thanks for any input and the good topics posted...

Elmer, it will help a little to seal it off, but the idea isn't so much as forcing cold air into the intake as it is to seal the intake from under hood heat.

 

Obviously, nobody gets my sarcasm.

 

I will probably do this "setup" over the weekend and I will let you know how it goes. Thanks a lot for all the informative replies guys.

 

thanks for all the input. I will try and keep all the steps and procedures i go through. I'm also heading for Home depot to get the mesh? spell?? to cover the openings on the front bumper grille. thanks in advance!

i read in one of those manuals, it says 455hp gsr engine, it stated that ram air only works at a certain mph. maybe not 300 but somewhere reasonable.

 

ok, drive at 80mph and stick your hand out the window... feel the wind hitting your hand pretty hard there??? how bout that air going down a tube into your engine? There you have ram air... only thing is, the ram air is only really useful when you are a WOT cuz all that air can go into the engine.

kinda like the theory behind that electric supercharger... only activates at WOT cuz the throttle plate will allow all that extra air in. Of course I am not saying this product works or not, but the theory is correct...

 

wouldn't a comptech icebox help? just asking.

 

Ram air/cold air helps...just ask this guy.
