Default Newb and b16 build

Im taking an automotive class at a local community college and im looking to buy a motor that i can tear down and build up which is either going to be a second gen b16 or a gsr if i can find one with a good price.I also have a honda mechanic thats really cool and will help as well. For both engines i would like them to not break the bank so im looking for a nice mild setup and any suggestions will be appreciated.Im most likely get the b16.

Definitely pick up the omni intertune dvd, and I would try and find a b16/b18c1 shortblock here, people sell them pretty cheap, and then find a b series head and have fun with it!
