hey ,everyone keeps telling me an ECU is the engines computer but what does it actually do and wat is is capable of??? any info would be appreciated.. oh one more thing some one told me that obd means on board diagnostics but wat the hell is that... im a noob... im sorry bout it but i need more explaination plz.... thanks

 

ok as in your other thread we told you to search around for a bit to gather some info but obviously u didnt...

Heres a bit to get you started (someone correct me if i state something wrong):
-controls a/f ratio
-dictates when vtec kicks in
-linked to various sensors and causes check engine and other warning lights to come on when the sensors detect a problem

there is more but i am not sure of all of them and some of it might vary depending on what type of ecu or car it is

everthing the engine dose gets permission from ecu. its like a relay station. you have a 96 hatch, that would mean you probly have a 1.6l? if so then you have a p2p, and should get a p28. if your hatch is vtec
