Default which brand for slicks?

What is a good brand for slicks to DRAG race?

Here in Europe we have no hoosiers or mikey thomson....only Yokohamas or Pirellis for example. AreŽnt the sidewalls of those slicks to stiff?

Here in the state most people use Mickey Thomson or M&H, you will get around 1.7- 1.8 60 ft depends on suspension set up and tire size. You should be able to run 1.9-2.0 60ft with 032R or other DOT road race r compound (they have much harder side wall), and about 2.1 to 2.2 60ft with street tires.

Youre right, the road racing slicks will have very stiff sidewalls but their rubber compound should help you out better than street tires. Do you have Nitto or BFG drag radials there?

We have a BFG competition tire, but I think a real track-slick is better than a DRAG radial, isŽnt it?

I'd be interested to find out...the drag radial will have the necessary sidewall flex, but the track tire will have the slick surface. It becomes a matter of which affects grip more for your given setup and tire theory goes out the window and a head-to-head test is the only way to find out. The good thing about getting track slicks is that you can get two more and then have a set to go road racing/auto-x-ing with!
