Like the topic says, i'm looking for an amp for my 10 inch Infinity Kappa Perfect Subwoofer. The problem is that i don't know what to look for in an amp. The subwoofer recommends RMS 350 watts. I'm assuming that i only need 1 channel for the sub, so do i just look for an amp that puts out around 300 watts x 1? Since i only need 1 channel, shouldn't i just get a single channel amp? Why do some people use a 2 channel amp for a sub? Can you use 2 channels for a single sub? If so, what are the advantages of that? It would be great if someone who knows alot about car audio could just tell me exactly which amp is the best for this subwoofer. I would really appreciate if someone could clear this up for me. Ok, I'm assuming you have a 4 ohm single voice coil Perfect. It's RMS is 350 watts and it max power handling is 7-800 watts I think. I'd find a 2 channel amp that does roughly 500-600 watts bridged (mono) at 4ohms. That should be perfect for your one Perfect. Look for something along the lines from Rockford, PPI, Phoenix Gold, etc... and you'll be more than happy.

 

To answer your question about a 2 channel amp. Yes you can get a bridgeable amp and bridge it to 1. Usually you plug in the + lead on one side and the - on the other to hook up both channels. But you have to make sure its bridgeable otherwise it wont work. All depends on what you can afford to. If you have the cash get another sub and a bigger amp to support both.
Or just get a bigger amp with 2 channels and only use one.

the mtx 2300 does 700wrms at 4ohm i think that would be the perfect amp.. if your putting it in a small sealed box u can put 500wrms with out a problem

I have that same sub and I use the JBL Bp600.1 it does a great job on it. This amp is reasonable in price also.
