can you calc torque from a hp number?

Default can you calc torque from a hp number?

someone says he dynoed 204hp.

and he doesnt have a torque number but his estimates 220-230 torque?

on a SOHC turbo set up?

HP = Torque * RPM/5,252



It depends on the RPM as well. But you should be able to figure it out to some degree. Maybe others can comment more on this.

And I dont think it made that much torque on a SOHC turbo, seems to high. But i suppose i could be wrong.

204 HP on a SOHC turbo = probably 160 ft/lbs . And I did that in my head !

Without RPM the conversion from Horsepower to torque is impossible. Usually the peak Horsepower is rated at a particular RPM. Peak torque may or may not occur at the same RPM (usually lower).

taken from turbod16.com it is possible for a sohc to make some torque, its mainly because of its r/s ratio, or whatever it is
