Hi,

Just purchase a 95 Accord Coupe Lx this past weekend and was shock to see it came with rear disc and a sunroof... I though sunroof only came in EX model...can someone fill me in on this? Thanks

 

yes accords have front and rear discs = ABS

sunroof, as far as i know, was offered with lx and ex.

 

i also thought it was only the ex model.. can some one confirm this .. maybe its a rear disk conversion...

 

Which engine to you have? Ex's have f22b1 (vtec) and Lx's have the f22b2 (non-vtec). I thought that sunroofs, rear disc brakes, and abs were only available on the EX.

 

^^^ i have the lx f22b2 (non vtec) and yes it came with sunroof and rear disc with abs. Even the emblem still say accor lx on the trunk..did i just get lucky?

 

For the 1995 model year, Both the LX AND the DX were available with four (4) wheel disc brake ABS as an option. The EX came standard with Four (4) wheel disc brake ABS.

I have a 94 lx with rear disc brakes and a sonroof, but I think the sunroof may be aftermarket. Although it looks like a factory sunroof

 

The factory sunroof (with it's own seperate roof panel) can be distinguish from aftermarket add-on types by this:
The factory unit has NO outside molding (or flange) around the opening. When open, the factory unit will have a rolled roof edge 90deg, dropping 1/4 to 3/8" . The glass panel raises (when closing) flush with the roof panel. The inside is finished off by a 3/4" felt piping which surrounds the opening.
The aftermarket units can most times be identified by a definite metal flange on both the inside and outside.

To be honest, I've never seen an aftermarket sunroof on a Honda.

Fast way to know for sure.... although I think we have already determined it is an LX... is look at the 7th digit of the VIN:
2=DX
3=LX
4=LX with ABS
5=EX
6=EX with Leather Seats

As for the sunroof.... it was an option as P stated.

Maybe.... maybe it is aftermarket... not really sure.

 

I always thought, if it has a factory sunroof it has to be an EX. Would there be any way to get a factory sunroof installed after purchase? Seems like that would be impossible. Or close to imposible.

 

My 95 lx with ABS has rear disc
My 96 lx w/o ABS does not have rear disc

 

You could order, or find on the lot any Accord (DX,LX or SE with a factory sunroof as long as it was initiated with the "build order" (Stock unit) or Special Order (Customer Sale) so it could be scheduled thru the factory assembly plant. Factory Sunroofs will never be Dealer Installed; since they involve a distinctly different Roof Panel (not only the opening, but unique mounting points for the sunroof assembly, it's drain hoses and the unique headliner panel as well. In addition, there is additional reinforcement in the "A' Pillar to compensate for the weakened roof panel (it's now got a hole in it! )
In order to get a factory Sunroof onto a car not specifically built for it, you would have to cut off a roof with a sunroof at the pillars and graft it onto your car.

 

My 94 LX has four wheel disc brakes and ABS. I feel the envy of people who wish they had my brake setup.

 

i assume if your car has an after market sunroof/moonroof then it would open to the outside. my 94 ex came with a sunroof and it gooes into the roof.

 

Yeh, until the point where you have to have the ABS module rebuilt.
Four wheel disc is the cats meow, until the rear calipers sieze up. (another thread)

Now If I could only find a non-ABS 4 wheel disc set-up.
I hate relying on a computer to do my job. I've seen too many "it just kept going" intersection accidents with ABS to be happy with it.
