94 accord leaking oil.....
ok honda crew, my girl's accord is leaking oil. it looks like its leaking right behind the valve cover. i am used to my ford, so i know crap about hondas. its a 16 valve 4 cylinder(i dont even know if they made a v6), and has 155,000 miles. runs like a champ except for the leak. its leaking pretty bad, there is oil running all the way down to the oil pan. does anybody else have this problem?. how much is that valve gasket? anything else i should check?? thanks!!
Take some Brake Cleaning Fluid (spray) and wash off the engine behind the Valve cover, and take it for a nice relaxing ride of about an hour. When you get home, put an eyeball to it to see if you've got fresh oil staring back. If so, yes, you've got the Valve Cover Gasket blues. Make sure the V/C Gasket kit includes the grommets for the V/C hold down bolts, and the spark plug well seals.
If you do not have oil staring back, suspect the oil pressure sensor just above the oil filter in the rear.
