i have an 87 integra LS. (well my dad does). he said he can start the car fine, but when he puts it in gear and gives it gas, it stall right away.

could it be map sensor? he said the PGM-FI light came on last week, but said it doesnt come on now.

When was the last time he changed out the fuel filter or done a tune-up? Or even a really clogged cat could do that. In other words, it could be a number of different things, and the only way to know for sure is to check everything starting from the cheapest.

What happens if he just rev it in neutral?

 

check out the wiring in the fuel system.
it might be a bad ground , or a faulty injcector maybe?
the only way to find the prob is to look around.....

 

I doubt its the injectors, if one of the injectors were bad your engine will probaly shake. Check and see if the o2 sensor is bad....

 

could it be the MAP sensor?

he said he changed the igniter, he said he changed the fuel filter a year ago, and had a new exhaust system put on recently.. that was my first thought was a clogged catalytic converter.

knowning my dad..who knows what the problem is..
