Just cleaned the EGR ports on a 94 ex
I really didnt think they would be that dirty ....
man, went i opened up the cover... all 3 out of the 4 seemed really clogged. Hopefully it helps with some mileage. The car sounded different as well, at first. But now it's back to normal sound. I really didnt think it would be "that bad".
If you havent done so, i would suggest you guys do it, so freaking dirty and clogged. Replace the fuel injector seals while at it.

on a scale of 1-10 how hard is this. i recently put on a intake and that wasnt hard. what is EGR ports and how do i clean them. i dont wanna get to over my head but ill do anything to get some better gas milage.(the reason for the intake.)
It's pretty easy... compared to lets say a brake job... pretty much the same in terms of time. My *** and thighs were aching bent over the hood for 1hr. The egr port clean requires about ....8 bolts at 10mm undone that's all. I took off a couple more to make more room. Dont get scared when a bunch of fuel comes off the fuel rail when you take off the fuel injectors. It sizzles on the hot manifold. here's the minimal DIY

Feel free to take off whatever gets in your way to make it easier like i found.
Takes longer to take the 3 small hoses off then anything else
. Remember to get them new fuel inejector seals while you at it.

Ouch! Maybe relieving the pressure before disconnecting the fuel lines?!? And I wouldn't want any sizzling fuel around me...
Definately
for the fuel injector seals. Don't try it without them! You have been warned.

Back from the dead..
Where are the injector seals located?
I was looking over the DIY pictures but didn't see them or notice what needs to be replaced.
Could someone point them out..

Thanks

Little O-rings & spacers or whatever. The O-rings get hard with temperature & age, so they leak if you put them back in.
There's also a seal where the injector fits into the intake manifold. That's a vacuum leak instead of a fuel leak, but still...

Why in the F$%& did you disconnect fuel lines when the engine was still hot?!?!?!?!?!
EDIT:
DON'T ATTEMPT THIS WITH A HOT ENGINE!!!!!

Maybe # 2, 3, & 29 depending on what exactly they are. (I haven't done this yet.) Maybe someone knows whether they also have a habit of falling apart with age & heat? Maybe # 2 & 3 are hard spacers & can re-use? Maybe # 28 & 29 are rubber seals?
#28 and 29 are the o-rings, yes they need to be replaced, but more because they are very easy to tear or split when messing with the injectors
definently inspect them closely when you remove the fuel rail and make sure to try and not force the rail back on. Put it on evenly with applied pressure across the rail.
