Default Help with "dash" in a 97 accord with dual airbag

This sunday, I am trying to remove the whole dash inside my car, because there are wires from the "gauges", wires from the head unit, and wires from the Tv's running all through the mid consele and through the dash.....
I was wondering if there's a chance I might "blow" the passenger air bag if I disconnect any wire the goes to it???? I am installing a "apc euro dash", and would like to do a clean up of unwanted useless wires from the prior set ups done to my car!
Thanks!

no but i would disconect the batt and wait ten sec. though just to be safe!why do all that work just take them out the way you got them in?if you put them in without removing the dash surely you can get em out! a 95 acc dash kinda sucks to remove!

It's just so annoying to see all wires going at the mid consolo...
and thanks... I will disconnect the battery... I think I will remove the entire dash and change the color, I want to have the whole interior in black... or a dark grey... and leave the top of the interior with the lighy grey that is....
Thanks!

well if you plan on removing your airbags, disconnect both cables for 3min, im not sure if 15sec is long enough, i think the srs holds power for a little longer....the book says three minutes, then be sure to plug the airbags into the "dead" plugs...

Honestly man if you're not absolutely positive on wiring I'd get a helms dealor repair manual or let someone else do it. Airbags are not to be messed with. For one they're expensive (like $1200 for salvaged parts). Second if by some fluke one goes off while you're sprawled out working on the dash it could kill you! Definitely unplug the battery but be for damn sure you know what you're doing! I knew a guy who's coworker at a dealorship (never met him but I'd assume he knew what he was doing) was working on wiring around the steering wheel reached over the pass seat. Airbag went off unexpectedly and it blew him out of the car bout ten feet up against a wall and knocked him out.

Tucking wires is one thing but like he said if you're actually sniping wires and removing airbags be careful! Either way have a manual, dash's are a pain in the *** and there's no way you're gonna find all the screws without one.

Thanks guys!!!
Thanks for the information of 3 minutes!
I ended up not doing what I was going to do today.... ...but... here's what i found out:
My cruise control lights up, but never actually works. Today, when removing the "glow gauges" (installed by the last owner), I realized that he had these glow gauges wired to the cruise control to power them up!
There were 2 cables for antennas going through my dash... one was from the first tv/dvd and the other one was from the last dvd/tv unit.... ...there's like 4 or 5 feet of cables coming from the headrest that are just extra.... taking space inside the mid console...
I found out that there was a piece of the gauge cluster missing.... and I hope i find it at a junkyard the next time i go to one....
Other than that.... i haven't found anything else missing or "extra" inside the car.... lol
btw... does any one know if the gauge cluster is the same for the 5th and 4th generations?

Thanks again guys!

fyi the srs control unit has to see numerous things like wheel speed and the no wheel spped indacating a crash! and impact sensors have to tell the unit to deploy the bags. its pretty fool proof these days. and for the whole dead plugs not all makes and models have these!

also aig bags goin off for no reason and throwing a man 10 ft.....? this must of been a lie someone told you i ve deployed hundreds of them we have to deploy them before we put them in the trash they dont have that kind of power not to mention that would of been the bigest lawsuit and would of made news!go to your local honda dealer and ask to see a air bag deployment next time they do it. or come to the dealer i work for and i will blow some for you the bodyshop probally gives me 5 or 6 a month to deploy
