4th gen civic front shocks on fifth gen civic?
i just bought a set of used koni yellow shocks (neuspeed edition) fior my 94 civic coupe. the rear shocks are the correct part number but the front shocks are actually for the 88-91 civics. i didnt realize this until i looked at the part numbers on neuspeeds website. does anyone know if this is a big problem.....are they that much different? if it is a problem i can just try to sell the two front shocks and spend a bit more on two new fronts.....not a big deal.....just need to know before i do it. thanks for the help.

hmmm.....thanks for the reply.....bu the guy that i bought them from had them installed on his girlfriends 93 civic ex. so they obviously work to some extent. about them being shorter...are you sure? i just got an email back from koni and they said that the 4th gen shocks are actually longer in minimum length...whatever that means. heres the email i got from them:
Christopher,
The front shocks that you have (8041 1166SP3) will not work on your 1994 car.The 89-91 Civic shock is about 2" longer in min length than the 8041 1152 Sport (or SP3 for the Neuspeed version) which means you'll have very little to no travel left for the car to operate. It is recommended that you switch to the 8041 1152 Sport (or SP3) shock when installing these on your car. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thanks.
Gordon
....now i am sure that the guy from koni knows what he is talking about, but something still isnt making sense to me......any other usggestions out there?

The 92-95 eg fronts are longer than the 88-91 fronts, the ef fronts are about 1 inch shorter...I don't know what koni is smoking.
I have 2 front eg civic bilsteins/ohlins/tein HA's they are all longer then my ef stock front shocks and my KYB AGX fronts (yes I have lots of shocks). Unless they got some new secret **** going on at koni I would say the guy is wrong.
The bottom mount on the eg fronts is wider and uses a bigger fork...maybe your friend was using ef forks.

thanks for helping me to clear that up. i think that i am going to be selling the two front EF koni neuspeeds. then ill go and buy two new ones for my car. shouldnt cost too much. you wouldn't be interested in them at all would you? add a couple of shocks to your collection?
id let them go for $160 shipped. thanks again.
