is this feeling only in the type r blood?
call me a noob (flame suit on
)
but cornering in the vtec range is like
i always heard that itr are really great cars when it comes to cornering but i never knew it has this much potential! (on stock suspension setup)
what i mean is that if im at the apex of a corner at 85km-90km in 3rd gear the tires would be screeching and the car would feel unstable...but at the same corner and at the same speed but in 2nd gear close to red line (vtec range) the tires are barely screeching(this could be cause engine is so loud that it covers other noises) but the car feels so stable and that it wants to keep pulling around the corner!
is just itr that has this type of feeling or any other car with a good setup?
please know itr is the first and only car i've ever pushed hard around corners so i have nothing to compare it too!
thx for your input

just dont come off the throttle in a sharp corner around redline, or the *** end will come out on you pretty nicely
unless of course you're looking for the *** end to fly out, then by all means, go nutz
ya the ITR is crazy around corners, im still shocked

need to start learning braking points now... have you guys taken out your abs?

I think this has more to do with your corner entry than the gearing and throttle position or in VTEC or not. If your tires are a high pitched or uneven screeching sound, you are over driving the tires in many cases and most likely not entering and taking said corner correctly.
I actually find driving up a gear higher to be smoother in several instances than riding in the red in Vtec. Just be safe when you're doing this (hopefully on a track). Have fun
Lift throttle oversteer is one thing that you don't want to do, but modulating throttle to promote oversteer is fun.

I absolutely would not.

thx alot for your input!
definately food for thought!
i guess best way to learn is experience and actually logically working it out in the mind first!
but i really appriciate the input

Here's the problem with what you state. As you approach the apex, you should be accelerating. If you are close to redline, then you will soon run out of revs, and you will have to back off your acceleration - either by feathering the throttle, or by upshifting. Stopping your acceleration means that the weight of the car is thrown forward; this can cause oversteer and a possible spin. This is exacerbated by the fact that the apex is where the corner is sharpest, so there are the strongest lateral g loads on the car.
What I like to do is avoid any shifting near the apex where the lateral g loads are highest. That means doing downshifting in the braking zone before the turn-in point. That also means not downshifting if I'm going to run out of revs in the middle of the turn (depending on the turn, before the point about two thirds of the way from the apex to the trackout point).
The nice thing about a racetrack is that you drive the same track over and over again, lap after lap. You can try it in different gears on different laps, and see which one you like better, and which one is faster (which you can judge by your revs or speed at some point after the exit).

Be careful taking hard corners near redline. If you bounce the revlimiter it can spin the car out. (same as lifting)
But no, I've never been in a car that handles better.

Although it's not an aggressive hookup, the Honda Torsen axle really works wonders and gives you an advantage, especially in wet weather.
In the dry, for me, Summit turns 7, 8, 9 are full throttle fourth gear.
In the wet, you just gradually apply the throttle more and more and more until you feel in the steering that the axle is searching for traction, beginning to switch left and right.
At that point you know the car's telling you, "I can't take much more" and you've got the maximum hookup in those road conditions.
I am not sure why, but you can still catch a lot of very fast cars in that uphill section, even though those other cars also have some kind of LSD.

The ITR ABS system is actually very good, you won't find too many people that take it out.
