spoon caliper help....
hi fellas,
just recently installed the spoon monoblock calipers on my 00 S2K. Just have a question for those who have these on their S. how did the pedal feel after you installed yours? As my pedal now feels MUCH softer than the stock setup. Which is wierd as i was under the impression that since its an upgrade from stock it would be stiffer? Although the brakes bite the pedal is jus soft which concerns me?!?

Bleed the system a few times. Also, the spoon calipers have much more of a modulated brake feel than the stock brakes. This is only something you would notice when comparing it on the track
my curiousity: is there any difference in performance from the monoblock and the twinblock? and what is the effects on brake pad between the 2 applications ?(shorter/longer life?)
Monoblock caliper is stiffer and lighter according to Spoon. I don't think it affects pad wear between the two. For the S2000, only the monoblock is offered; the two-piece caliper is only for the DC/EP.
Soft pedal feel sounds like improper bleeding. If you aren't familiar with bleeding brakes, have another person help you or get it done professionally. Also, are you still on stock lines? I recommend switching to those if you're going to splurge on $1500 calipers. My Earl's lines were ~$120.

when replacing with SS lines, be prepared to bleed the system a couple times before you get the right feel. I bled my brake system 5 times to get the right feel from my stock brakes.
you dont have to unless you know what you doing ... swap my calipers to stop-tech then went back to stock ... i bled mine once each process without any problems

ask most of the guys who track their cars. it took a few bleeds to clear the system of air completely. not doubting you but majority will say they bled more than once. i guess it depends on how you bleed (the amount of fluid you use). i originally only used 1L of ATE Superblue and the brake feel was not what i wanted. I went through another 1.5L before I got the brake pedal feel to what i liked
The instructions from the SS lines said to flush the system, drive the car using the brakes hard and reflush. Repeat as many times as necessaryif brake pedal feel is soft. I wonder why?
