exhaust sizing

what kind of numbers will justify 3 inch exhaust?

see i plan on turboing my h22 in the spring but dont really want to get a 2.5 inch and then a 3inch in the spring so i was thinking 3 inch

I would go with 3 inch if you are DEFINITELY turboing it. It wouldnt hurt to drive around like that for a while , but dont forget that you may notice a difference in performance with the lessening of back pressure.

also have any of you guys ever fabbed up your own using mandrel bent 90s and 45s?
how did it work out?

did it on a CRX and it was horrible. lots of leaks too many c clamps eventually it all came off and we had it done right. I wouldn't recommend it especially if you turbo it. You dont want the exhaust going to **** when you invest that much money in it.

even with a mig welder and someone thats really knows how to weld? Just that muffler shops areound here are stupid and my buddy is a blacksmith nand a great welder. i wouldnt clamp anything jst weld and use a flange or 2

Just go with 3" while you are at it. It'll be loud depending on your ex components, but it'll save you money in the long run.
