I think stock B-series Honda pistons are hypereutectic (not sure). They're about $50 a piece. Might not be 13.99, but hey....

Hypereutectic pistons are weaker when compared to forged ones though.

well figure that the pistons in the S10 have been around in basic design since 1954-55. It is expensive to setup for a new mold/machining process. We are paying that price.

The US Honda aftermarket is very young; 12-13 years is not a long time. And with the discontinuance of certain popular motors, it's not likely that pricing will drop anytime soon.

When I started doing some number crunching with suppliers and manufacturing for what I am trying to do, I saw that the most of the Euro and Asian market parts would command a higher price than the domestic stuff. Like Mista sorta indicated, GM/ Chrysler/ Plymouth/ Dodge, and Ford, have a lot more time in the game, and their engine designs don't really deviate over a long course of time. So their parts are almost always going to be less costly to get.
