Default tein basic coilovers

guys i got tein basic coilvers and daily driving its smooth and **** but when i hit a bump the back hits hard as expletive...it lowered to about 2 notcthes left.. is that normal and someone said something about bump stoppers.. i pretty sure they were put on there when they were installed. if some has a pic of what it should look like i would appriciate it thanks...

Also the lower part of the shock where the bolt goes through... the piece thats welded on that the bolt cachtes on broke off.. and now i just just got a nut and bolt on it.. Could that be it

depends on the car and the spring rates. on my integra it rides too hard. on my hatchback it rides too soft.

Depends on your tires too. Every notch matters, I have been riding them for some time now. You just have to adjust it more and more, depending on what you're doing. I'm primarily the only one in the car so it's pretty slammed but if you plan on having people in the car then set it differently. Remember the springs are made to reset themselves to the wieght of your car, nothing else. It takes some tweeking.

Here's my car.

Like I said, the springs are going to do there thing but it depends on the reason you're using your car. I hope this helps.

Um. Are you sure the springs are on right? I took my HAs into a shop to have them fight the 7 years of rust that had built up on the OEM suspension, and the idiots put the front springs on the rear & rear springs on the front. Why the hell they're listed on Teins site is a mystery to me.

Anyway, that brilliant install made the front very soft and the rear very hard. Sounds like what you're describing.

I ended up yanking them out and swapping the springs myself. Snapped bolts a'plenty, they used air guns during the install - every load bearing bolt was seriously over-torqued, surprised one didn't snap while I was on the road. Impatient idiots with access to power tools get a big from me.

I have tien SS on mine, & I do agree you have to play with them to find the right settings... you can also adjust them with EDFC (if it's compatible)

If it's the SS-P then you can adjust it with the EDFC

don't know if Tein is selling a newer version of the Basics, but..... I had my full suspension off this week and was looking at the springs.. I'm running the Basics also, on a 92 hatch, and there is no difference in size between my 7 kilo springs and my 3 kilos. These are the rates I received from Tein when I ordered my kit and they had little stickers on them to tell which was which. Thats what it kinda sounds like to me, maybe you got the rates reversed...

My fronts are noticeably thicker than the rears. But again I have an old TypeHA set, maybe Basic are different.

Another clue that the springs are wrong is if perches are set REALLY high in the front and really low in the rear (rode very low with the perch about 1/2" from the bottom of it's adjustment range). It's the only way you can get an even ride height if they're swapped.
