Default Maintence Q's

I have some issues with my vehicle.

I have 175K on motor and tranny, that I know of.

I need a CV boot, right. Better to replace Boot, and repack, or replace axle? Boot ripped recently, last 2 weeks. <-- how hard would it be for me, a newb to repleace axle if need be?

Water pump is leaking, and with that I need a timing belt. <-- Ima newb, could I do these with a helms, and a weekend? or should I bring it to a shop, I know of a rock bottom priced one.

Any other preventive maintenence anyone can think of?

I know this is vague, im just asking could I do whats needed to my car, myself. Save some $$, but take into considering, limtied tools and experience. or would it be better to get it done right, and fast?

I would like to learn to do everything myself, but I only have weekends. So I can't take everything aparty and figure how it all goes back. Cause it needs to be releiable for the weekdays.

I would replace the whole axle, comes with a lifetime warranty . The timing belt/water pump is a pretty big step IMO. A helms will help you alot. I say buy it and see how much info is in there. If you feel good about it then try it. Biggest piece of advice is taking your time getting to the belt. Take a good look at what your dealing with and then proceed.

With that many miles I would replace the following:

-water pump
-lower crank oil seal
-camshaft oil seal
-timing belt
-all drive belts (A/C, power steering)
-distributor cap and rotor
-spark plugs

Then also have the valves adjusted.

all the drive belts, the cap, rotor, plugs, **** like that is no prob.
unless you know what youre doing i wouldint mess with the water pump or timing belt, if you dont put it back together the right way ur probaly gona wind up buying some valves or maybe a head, and even if its 1 or 2 teeth off it wont run right.

read about it make sure u got everything u need b4 u get in over ur head
