Flattening warped flanges? (when torquing the bolts wont cut it)
Ok; i have a problem with my downpipe flange on my turbo. I'm using a standard/ford t3 discharge flange bolted to my t3/to4e with a 2.5: dp and a 1.25" wide 4" long piece of pipe coming off the wg flapper hole for my external gate.
My problem is that when i welded the flange i did it in a hurry and didnt bolt it down to anything... Now i'm paying the price as the wastegate doesn't make a 100% seal.
I've tried all over town and found one place that let me use their belt sander but it was a puney wood unit and i tore up two belts (one heavily used that was on there and one i ripped on accident when the dp slipped and got sideways tearing the belt) before giving up.
Now my question to you all is: Is there a better way to flatten flanges like say with using heat or am I going to have to make another downpipe (not out of the question yet).
