Default d16 motor with d15 tranny

well my brother gave me his car last week because he bought a new 330ci, and his motor went out on him (d15b7) 2 weeks ago. i was wondering, if i wanted to put a d16 motor, would it work with the d15 tranny, ecu, etc? basically i just want to replace the motor and was wondering if a d16 would be ok without changing anything else. any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The tranny will bolt right up... D series trannys are interchangeable. The ECU will run, but I'm pretty sure it'll throw a CEL. The D16 is a SOHC VTEC motor, D15b has no VTEC, so unless your car is wired for VTEC (del Sols are in the base model, I don't know if civics are), you also have to wire VTEC, which is an... interesting learning process.... Here's the deal. Tranny will run fine, not sure about the ECU running with a D16 distributor. I know to make a D16a6 run on a D15b7 ECU you also have to use the D15b7 distributor.

D15B has VTEC, D15B7 does not.

D16Z6 will run on the P08 DX ECU, just no VTEC, but it will run just fine for daily duties, add P28 ECU and 2 VTEC wires when needed.

Hi Em!!!!!!!!!!!!
