Default Bleeding clutch master cylinder ... 2 weeks later. Questions.

As the question suggests 2 weeks ago I bled my clutch master cylinder and figured I had all the bubles out (dot 4 looked all clear) now when I bleed the system I find tiny little pin ***** sized bubbles in the fluid.

The question is, is this normal ? or should the fluid still remain totally free of bubbles ...

I don't appear to be leaking any dot 4 but the reason I checked was down to the clutch feel being different (It would appear to be catching more than usual when changing gear)

Any experience with this folks ?

Cheers,

You say when you bleed it there are tiny bubbles...do you see these bubbles as it's coming out of the bleed valve or when it's in the bucket afterwards? If it feels fine, and the clutch pedal isn't sinking to the floor, you should be good. If it catches better than before that could be a good thing.

when i bleed my clutch master cylinder and i'm close to changing fluid and eliminating bubbles, i usually leave the bleeder nut on the slave cyl just a little open... this way it's harder for the fluid to come out so when you press the clutch pedal, all the fluid supresses the bubbles/air and they come out before the fluid does.... also, don't pump the clutch too hard as big bubbles can split into smaller ones if you apply high pressure on the fluid and smaller bubbles are harder to bleed.. just apply pump very slowly and at the end leave the bleed nut just a little cracked..

seemed to work good... too good in fact since my master clutch cylinder is now showing signs of leaking... i guess there was air in the system and it was softening the pressure when you press the clutch but now that there was no air in the line, it would start leaking from the seal since fluid can't be compressed as much as air

anyway...good luck with your setup

Hey there folks thanks for the replies.

When I say catching I mean when I change gear it feels like the gears are biting (almost grinding but not quite) before I release the clutch.

As for the bubbles when I open the bleed valve I get a lot of tiny pin head sized bubbles when I let the fluid out, then about 2 cm of fluid travels down the tube which also has a few bubbles in it.

I have replaced the master, slave, res, cap and pip between the res and the master. The only pipes I havent changed are the hard lines and the soft line between the slave and the hard line (the one that runs over the top of the tranny)

Cheers,
