Default putting a bolt and nut in the shift linkage where the pin came out(would it work)

you know the "bitch pin" in the shift linkage that is hell to get in and out. Well would the right size bolt and nut work, or would it rattle loose or interfer with something.

Just asking for opinions because i have thought about doing this.

it would probably work but i would just put the pin back in. I got a little shorter pin, hit it in there with a hammer then i use an air chisel with small tip on it to push it through the whole way to remove it. Made things a little easier

When I first bought my car it had a bolt instead of the pin there...

It sucked, there was tons of play in the shifter even though the bolt fit in there tight.

Even when the car was in gear there was 2-3 inches of movement from side to side in the shifter

The bitch pin isn't hard to deal with if you have a roll pin punch. I bought one, only cost a few bucks and it makes the bitch pin a breeze.

I would just put the pin in, its fairly easy to get in, its just hard to get out. We were going to use a bolt instead on my buddies swap but its not as tight and accurate as the pin.

I just did an engine swap on my g/f's 1998 LX non-vtec.

When I took that pin/clamp out, I must've swept them up and tossed them out cuz they're nowhere to be found. I put a bolt/nut in there instead, Grade8, and soaked it in loctite. I'm sure it's secure in there, but like you were saying I've got mad play in my shifter. It moves side-to-side a ton.

Would this actually cause that? I wouldn't see how just that pin would cause all that play. The bolt seems to be holding it down securely.

Also... where would you get one of the "bitch pins?" I asked at the dealer and the parts counter guy couldn't find it on their schematic of the shift linkage.

Part number anyone?
