Default anyone ever make lexan "roll up" windows in a civic?

just wanted to see if anyone had ever actually place lexan in the window tract and was able to make them roll up like factory windows, i have been looking at my window cranks and i think it can be done as long as you shape the lexan with a heat gun or something to get a factory bend in it

Anyone else?

I dont see why it wouldnt be doable...but probably be hard to pull off. If you've ever tried to bend lexan before, you know what I mean. Even with heat, you will have little hairline "spider" cracks all over...experiment on some scrap first just to see what you can do...

it would be easy to make lexan roll up and down like stock but it would defeat the purpose if you dont take out the motor, rails, and sliders cus the weight of the glass is not that much heavier then lexan. i say you would be saving only about 6lbs at max but just switching from glass to lexan without gutting the door....just my $.02.

And then you have to deal with the Lexan getting scratched the hell up by everything. It's absolutely not worth a weight savings of 6 lbs or whatever for a street car, and if it's a race car, you wouldn't be bothering with all that mess.

like mentioned the point is the weigth savings so unless you could work some sort of other mechanism like an up down slider it defeats the purpose...the scratch resistant treatments on lexan though hae gotten much better last like 3 years

I was actually wondering about roll-up lexan myself but for different reasons. Unless I am thinking of something else, then lexan would make it so that no one could bust out my window to steal the stuff inside, or the car itself. The weight factor isn't important to me. Am I thinking correctly??

So you'd replace every window with lexan to keep your CDs from getting stolen or something? Seems not worth the effort to me. And if you think it'd prevent your car from getting stolen, think again. There are only like 2435234 to break into and steal a Honda without actually breaking any part.

i wanted to do the same thing, but i am going to 1/2 way gut the door, i still drive the car everyday but want it light for autocross and track days, and in my class, every lilbit helps! i wanna replace the electric rool up w/ a manual one. and as for it geting scratches, i was thinking about tinting both sides of the window. with the lightest tent i could find. i dont see why it would not work, but i could be wrong. were would you buy this type of lexan. its not the same as what they sell at home depot, right?

I know a secret about hondas that I know others know as well. I have made my friends stand and look at me in aww as I got into thier cars and drove away while they were holding thier keys in thier hands. Of coarse I brought the cars back.

Oh yeah that's another thing I love, the ability to pop the ignition switch apart in about 5 seconds, along with being able to pop with window glass out of the top corner of the door frame.
