Default Temperature Gauge Problem

Okay, so today I did a few things...

Installed a thermostat from Napa, new PVC valve, and seafoamed my car.

Well, everything was kosher, i let it warm up to operating temp with the new thermostat, then proceeded to seafoam my engine. Put about half in, then let it sit for 10 min. Drove it around, hard, to get all the **** out and my temp gauge sky rocketed. Hooked up the labtop to check the temp on the ECU and it was at 108 degrees which is normal operating temp? Im trying to figure out what went wrong here, theres plenty of coolant, car ran fine, it just seems that the gauge is reading wrong or is faulty.

-Thanks!

ideal operating temp should be in the 190 area. It could be the sending unit, but I think it's odd that this happened right after you did a cooling system repari.... very odd indeed....

The guy before me was running no thermostat at all. I just put one in today finally. and 190 should be the operating temp? geez. that means my ***** still cold. or maybe just the sensor. Which one would it be? the one by the vtec solenoid or the one on the thermostat?

Did you bleed the cooling system? There could be a big air bubble hanging out around the temp gauge, and the air in that bubble will get much hotter than the coolant, just a thought. Had a 240sx that did that, There is a bleeder screw right at the upper hose going into the motor, get it up tp temp and crack it open. If no coolant comes out, you have air.

i have this b18c1 in my EG hatch. I dont have a teg radiator, but rather a civic one. does this radiator still possess a bleeder valve? Which sensor should I replace if one of them is possibly bad? the one on the thermostat or the one by the vtec solenoid?
