Wild guess...
So there is no Throttle Posistion Sensor on a regular type R... But the JDM engine has one huh? And uhm.. When you get screwd and the CEL comes on and all checks comes out to the TPS... what do you do? Acura doesn't have the part... neither does AutoZone (not that i'd want one from there)
Roll the car off a cliff?? Or how about leave it in a bad area?
:snarls:

hmm. let's think about this.
your USDM ECU is throwing a code for a TPS.
now why.. oh why, oh why, oh why.. would it be programmed to error out while searching for something that doesn't exist?
Was it a Honda manufacturing defect.. or..
OR..
oh expletive it the ignorance level is too high for my sarcasm to reach.

I give up.
I don't believe their sold separately, because otherwise it would need to be calibrated once installed.
Acura most likely will only sell a complete throttle body assembly.
Apparently yours is loose or something, usually I hear that they're rivited in place.
Sorry, not much help other than that.

Well then i'm going to play with it tomorrow.. because my lord.. it's almost $800 for a new throttle body!!!
and yea it did just start screwing up once I was being dumb and playing with the gas to get my friend to spill his drink on himself
If worst comes.. is the type R throttle body the same as any other integra?

Every ITR has a TPS sensor. You can use any 92 + Honda TPS Sensor, they perform the same function. They are a simple potentiometer which reads .5V when closed and 4.5V at wide open throttle. Just find an old single cam throttlebody or integra tb and take it off of that. Bolts can be slotted with a die-grinder and removed using a flat head screwdriver. Good Luck
When you search, you have to change it to "achieved".

Guy or girl, a stupid person is a stupid person.
As was already stated, simply get the TPS off any 92+ Civic/Integra. Acura will only sell you a new throttlebody, not a new TPS.

"should I ghetto-fab paint my wheelz?"
all the freakin' OT posts in here.. heaven forbid I ask a Type R question!!!
I even contiplated on going to the other section on HT about this since a majority of the ****** in here rather act like internet badass kids..
But thank you for the ones who helped! I now have ideas on what to do!

What the hell. LoL. $800 for a throttle body, Jesus Christ! Who ever's selling you that is making a good bit of commission off it.
Yeah, Acura doesn't offer the TPS as a stand alone unit because of liability/warranty reasons. At least that's what the DPSM in our District told me.
It's funny though how some people can spend thousands of dollars buying wheels, tires, or mods, but can't buy a new throttle body to fix their car.

Send me an email and I'll give you a quote for it. I know it's definitely lower than $800. Just bite the bullet and fix the car. Just make sure you ask $800 more for the car when you put it up for sale.

hah I can't even sell it for what I have it up for now!!
I'm going to "wiggle" it haha nah i'm going to see if everything looks ok with it and play around with it for a few.. reset the light.. and see if it comes back on or not. It's a long shot but hell it's worth it!!!
If I have to I might just go by the junk yard and pick up a used one.. clean it up real good and make sure it's all good and slap it in..
The price i was quoted was $785 or something like that.. I just round up..

Replacing it is EXTREMELY easy. The calibration is only slightly more difficult, and only because you need to calibrate it correctly. If you remove the throttle body (4 bolts/nuts, a coolant hose or two, unplug the TPS), you'll see the TPS on the firewall side of the TB. You'll then see two things that look like rivets, but are actually screws with the heads broken off. Notch those with a die grinder and a small wheel if you have it, a narrow, sharp chisel if you don't (that's what I had to use). Then use a straight screwdriver to remove them, and installation is reverse of removal/disassembly.
When you're putting the new one in, you'll see that it has to line up in a certain way, with this little plastic part on the inner part of the TPS needing to slide between these two metal prongs on the TB. After you get it in there, you have to calibrate it as follows: hook up your multimeter to the green/white and red/white wires. With the throttle fully closed, wiggle the TPS until it reads 0.5V. Then fully open the throttle, and it should say 4.5V. You'll have to play with it a bit to get it right, and do this with the engine NOT running. Depending on what area you're in in NC, there are a number of Honda shops around that can help you with it I'm sure. P1 and R&D come to mind, I'm sure there's others.
