Basically i have a chance to buy a Honda JDM LSD unit out of a B16 cable transmission.
I have a A1 cable transmissionin my car. I remember reading somewhere that you could swap out chunks between transmissions (not including the ring gear).
i know that the b16 transmission is going to have a different final drive ratio. so thats why im asking can i swap the chunk only and use the original ring gear from my non-LSD tranny?
Thanks guy's your a big help

What exactly do you mean by "chunk"? Do you mean the differential? Your ring gear from your cable tranny will not bolt onto the OEM Honda LSD. You will need a ring gear from a GSR or a Type R. I don't know of any other ring gears that fit onto that LSD besides those.

You are incorrect. The OEM B16A LSD won't accept GSR/ITR ring gears. And I'm pretty sure the cable LSD fits in the other cable tranny's as well.

Dammit.
Sorry about that. I didn't see him mention the stock cable LSD. But in any case, I always get mixed up with what gears go with what gears.

No it didn't because (when referring to hydro tranny's) the LS and B16 gears are only interchangable with each other whereas the GSR and ITR gears are only interchangable with each other. But in your case it's not really a big deal because a GSR or US ITR ring gear has the same ratio as the Si ring gear.

thanks guys...for the reply
i believe i will just go with an OBX LSD or quaife.... seems that a new one that isnt worn out will be better for my application.
