d15b2 y8 crx . 15.42 do you believe?
Arite so i bought a 1991 crx si . no a/c d15b2 bottom end. d16y8 head. Turbo edit, launch control, resonated exhaust with borla muffler at the end. Ported and polished. rebuilt bottom end. metal head gasket . 5 speed si tranny. lowered 13" steelies. And some misc stuff in between. Tuned by KMA racing Its Casey Inmans old car if you guys know who he is. I was told it runs 15.42 which i believe because i was shown timeslips of it and had numerous people tell me they were there and witnessed it.
ive got a buddy of mine that is like no way that b/s not possible blah blah blah. its only 105 hp this and that
" so either that single cam makes 130WHP, which is AS MUCH as a B16, or, its a bunch of BS"
" even with 110whp it only runs a 15.8"
just to quote him saying it wont run 15.42
dont get me wrong my friends cool its just hes stuck to his side on this one. just gotta prove him wrong lol
well i was just seeing what you guys thought. Is this possible? i believe it do you?

With a very damn good driver, this would be possible...
You would deffinetly need about 115-120whp to acheive this though. Has the head been milled? Block resurfaced? That all raises the compression. What about the port and polish job... is it a exospeed (send the head out job)? or just a mild in the shop type deal? What is the cylinder compression on the last compression check reading?
There is alot to be seen here yet. I find it very hard to believe a stock d15b2 and a "port and polish" y8 head managed this run with only that going for it.

not my car but i helped put the motor togather/in the car. the bottem end is a stock rebuild. stock bore and all. the head was ported buy a buddy that at the time worked at a machine shop. heh we accualy never did a compression test on it. the head was resurfaces also. it uses a stock y8 head gasket. the 15.4 was the best out of prolly 12 runs all day long. the rear interior was out and the head light was also took out. casey is a pretty good driver also. so that helps alot
oh yea.. and it was WB02 sensor tuned.

well your friend says it is a metal (I take that to mean either an aftermarket, or modified one piece stock).... why didn't he say stock headgasket... we know they are metal. Head was resurfaced how far? interior was out? What else was removed... As I said above... possible but too many details are left out. That engine NEEDS atleast 115 whp to accomplish that run. That is alot of power to get with out any power adders.
How about exhaust? was it open header? What was the track temp and air temp? Doesn't need to be exact... was it a hot day/cold day... night or day? I don't really care how good a driver you are, without the power you will not see those times. I have an "estimated" untuned 180whp and ran a 14.2 @103 mph. Did it multiple times. No traction and cold as **** weather/track.

some sohc headgaskets are not metal.

2.25 exhaust and a Mr. gasket oem style 3 ply head gasket. the head was resurfaced just enough to make the surface flat. i dont remember how many thousandths. it was prolly 75-80 degrees out that day.. honestly i was quite suprised how good that car ran. **** i only ran a 14.6 with my boosted DA teg.. but my 60 foot was 2.7 and the mph was 99. the track really has no prep at all.. so its pretty amazing to me how it pulled that time. **** the crx was running even up with a b16 ef hatch.
