Default Clutch pedal stuck

I was starting up the car and put it into first but when I left out the clutch it would not come out. Then I tried putting it back into neutral but it was stuck in first. Finally I just let off the clutch completely and let it die. Did this about 3 times. After that it started to run normal. I ran my car kinda hard the day before and smelt some clutch when I shifted hard but it still ran fine. Im using an ACT III street clutch on 7psi of boost. Should i be worried? The clutch has about 4000 miles on it.

my slave cylinder just went on my 98 hatch i picked up this weekend. And the Clutch master cylinder is showing signs of a slight leak so i am going to replace both this weekend....end result clutch was dead, and would not go into gear....and yes just use brake fluid dot 3 for clutch fluid there is resovior (i cant spell) beside the brake master cylinder, see if its dry....if it is put some in the resevoir and bleed the slave cylinder on the tranny, you need two people to do it fast....if you need instructions just pm me...good luck

How do i check the slave cylinder? Do I have to visually inspect it or can is there another way to test it?

well the easiest way is a visual inspection,,,just pull the boot back on it see if its leaking...driving test, if you are driving and you cant down shift or get the car to go into gear...its the slave

if the car is shift properly..i wil say it is the clutch master cylinder...remember the syncros could be messed up My GSR did the same thing and it was the syncros, no way of check unless you want pull **** apart

How much would that cost to change or buy the parts for? Can a acura service center do it? I can barely change oil plus the military base im on doesnt let us work on our cars in the parking lots.

it mite be your clutch master cylinder, thats what happend to mine. it got soft and finally didnt pop back up. its the piston inside the cylinder or a leaking boot

Samething happened today except it was right after I got the car in motion. I was driving down the road at about 7 MPH in 1st gear and noticed the clutch pedal was unusually far away from my foot. I had to put my foot behind the clutch and pop it back out.

Is this something you look under the hood for, under the car, or take out the shift boot and look in there?

It's been my experience that master cylinders go out more often than slave cylinders. If you look in the foot well, under the clutch pedal, do you see any dripping fluid? With a flash light, try looking up to where the clutch master cylinder attaches to the pedal too to see if there is any fluid leaking out. That would be the indication that the cylinder is done.

Slave cylinder: fill it with brake fluid, bleed it (bleeder at the clutch release cylinder on the front of the bell housing), drive the car home. You can worry about changing it later.

You might have a leak in the clutch line. Look in the reservoir and make sure there's fluid in there. If there isn't you either have never ever replaced the brake fluid or you have a leak.

Get a buddy to help you bleed the clutch.

If you have a leak, you might be able to save the line with teflon tape, although it will eventually just bust again, so just junkyard a new line.
